j'ai vérifié le firmware et ai installé a riori le bon (c'est à dire celui correspondant à ma version 2 du modem).
J'ai essayé d'installé le rpm de la mandrake: impossible car il me manque le PPpoe (alors que je suis PPPoa).
Bref, en allant sur les messages de log, j'ai obtenu les infos intéressantes suivantes:

J'ai tapté speedtouch-start et suis ensuite rentré dans les messages log:

DONC, A PRIORI, je réussis à recevoir des paquets IP...
J'ai alors esayé de pinger sur yahoo, voici la réponse:

J'AI DONC APPAREMMENT UN PB DE DNS
J'ai alors tapé la commande suivante
rm /etc/resolv.conf
ln -s /etc/ppp/resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf
et ai réessayé de pinger sur yahoo: même réponse: ping: unknown host fr.yahoo.com

JE M'APERCOIS QUE CE FICHIER A ETE FAIT APPAREMMENT POUR UNE SUSE (mais peut-être qu'il fonctionne aussi pour une fedora), ET QUE SURTOUT IL VA CHERCHER LE FICHIER KQD6_3.012 ET PAS LE MGMT.O que j'avais récupéré dans mon windows...
Celà éclairerait-il un linuxien plus doué que moi ?
