Voici le problème :
J'ai voulu installer la mandriva 2006 pour avoir les programmes à peu près à jour. L'install se passe à peu près sans problème (sauf si je lui met mon disque dur externe - que j'ai donc enlevé pour l'occasion).
Le démarrage du nouveau système, aucun problème. Je me connecte sous X sans problème. Mais au bout de quelques minutes de travail (parfois seulement 30 secondes), l'ordinateur se bloque complètement. Seule solution : rappuyer sur le bouton power et tout relancé. Mais cela recommence 30 secondes après.

Moralité : inutile de penser faire quelque chose. Quelqu'un a-t-il une solution ?

Je précise que je n'ai pas rebranché mon disque dur externe, et j'utilise un portable XBook XB7 avec une carte graphique ATI mobility radeon

Si tu ordi se met à mouliner comme une bête regarde du coté de la config de Kat (outil de recherche indexée intégrée dans la distri).
Kat est censé se faire sa base de donnée de tout ce qui est indexable sur ton disque. En pratique il est plus ou moins stable et la solution miracle est de désinstaller les package Kat.

oui mais tu peux toujours taper :

$ top

tu auras la table des procesus et voir ce que ça donne sinon plutot de t acharner comme .... sur le bouton power ( peut-etre fatale ) avec moderation :-))

appuis sur ctrl+alt+suppr

ou alors

"Ctrl-Alt + Ret.Arr" ...

ou alors

crtl-alt-backspace pour redémarer X

Ou encore:
ALT SYS s synchronise (ferme tous les fichiers ouverts)
ALT SYS u démonte et remonte en ro
ALT SYS b reboot

Le pb est que l'ordi ne se met pas à ramer, il s'arrête tout simplement. Je peux rester une heure devant mon écran, sans que je puisse reprendre la main et aucune touche du clavier ne fonctionne (le crt-alt-sup est inutile

je vais essayer de supprimer kat mais je ne crois pas l'avoir installé.

Une autre aide est la bienvenue

est-ce que cela peut venir de ma carte graphique : une ati radeon mobility 9600 ?

$ rpm -q kat
le paquetage kat n'est pas installé

Tu vois tout de suite s'il est installé ou pas.
En principe il est installé par défaut.

Bon, ben kat n'est pas installé (rpm -q kat me renvoie cette réponse là), ce qui ne m'étonne pas puisque je ne l'avais pas choisi lors de l'installation.

Une autre idée ? J'aimerai vraiment essayer de profiter de cette mise à jour.

Bonjour J'ai un XB7 aussi et je suis sous une mandriva 2006 (version de club de décembre). pour tout ce qui est de X j'utilise les drivers ati, a telecharger sur le site ati.

Ensuite c'est un peu plus compliqué :

en root :

1/ Verifier que les sources du noyau sont instalées :
uname -a
ls -lh /usr/src

il faut verifier que le lien 'linux' pointe vers les bonnes sources du noyau.
ensuite on installe les drivers ati

2/ desinstaller les dkms ati :
rpm -e dkms-ati (ou urpme dkms-ati)

3/ en profiter pour installer les drivesr du modem (dkms-slmodem :-) )


4/ installer les drivers ati ./ati-driver-installer-8.21.7-i386.run

Si tout se passe bien (et c'est le cas qq soit la version de X utilisée et la version de la mandriva Le2005,2006, 2018 ....)


5/ faire fglrxconfig (ou aticonfig) ou ecrire son /etc/X11/xorg.conf a la main (ps voir la fin du message)

6/ rebooter (ne me demandez pas pourquoi mais sinon ca ne marche pas)

7/ pour les ficheir xorg.conf je ne sais pas comment les transmettre sur le forum, sur demanede
j'ai fait (avec touchpad et souris usb en option)

Désolé, j'étais parti pour des raisons professionnels.

Je passe vous dire que tout est régler. Il a suffit, a priori, d'installer les drivers d'ati. Je ne comprends pas pourquoi mais après cette installation, il n'y a plus eu de problème (comme quoi bien souvent on cherche midi à 14 heures). Toutefois, ne voulant pas reformater mon dd je n'ai pas installé "en propre" la mandriva 2006 mais suis passé par urpmi pour upgrader la 10.1 à 2005 puis de 2005 à 2006. Je n'ai peut être donc pas certaines particularité mais du moment que tout fonctionne...
