You find several versions of the bootsplash here:
* against SUSE patched kernels
* against vanilla (unpatched) Linux 2.4 kernels
* against vanilla (unpatched) Linux 2.6 kernels

Please choose the version that is closest to your kernel version

Patches since 2.4.22 have been sent in by various people. Thank you 
for porting the patches to newer kernels. 

*NEW* bootsplash 3.1.4 against kernel 2.6.3 and newer.
